- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, with juices
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (4 oz) diced green chilies
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Shredded cheddar cheese for garnish (optional)
- Sour cream for garnish (optional)
- Chopped fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
- Sliced jalapeños for garnish (optional)
- Sliced avocado for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- 1.In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- 2.Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until it becomes translucent.
- 3.Add the minced garlic and ground beef to the pot. Cook, breaking up the beef with a spoon, until it's browned and cooked through.
- 4.Drain any excess fat from the cooked beef.
- 5.Stir in the chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to toast the spices.
- 6.Add the diced tomatoes (with juices), tomato sauce, diced green chilies, and beef broth to the pot. Stir to combine..
